The 21 - 22 series POWERSTAT® Variable Transformers are of open construction and are primarily designed for back-of-panel mounting. The rated output for the type 21 series is 5 amperes for constant current loads and 7 amperes for constant impedance loads. For the type 22 series, the rated output is 2.25 amperes for constant current loads and 3.25 amperes for constant impedance loads. The 21 series operates from 120 volt lines and the 22 series operates from 240 volts lines. The taping arrangement permits an output voltage range of zero to line voltage or zero to 17 percent above line voltage. The 21 - 22 series can be operated at any frequency between 50 and 2000 hertz without reduction in allowable output current.

The 146 and 246 series POWERSTAT® Variable Transformers are available in single and three phase, manually operated and motor-driven assemblies. The 146 series operates from 120 volt lines and the 246 series from 240 volt lines. The 146 series has a rated output for constant current loads of 30 amperes and the 246 series is rated for 15 amperes. The rated constant impedance load at line voltage for the 146 series units has its rated current output increased to 35 amperes and the 246 series is increased to 19 amperes. These series can be operated at any frequency between 50 and 550 hertz. All models can be connected to deliver an increasing output voltage with either clockwise or counterclockwise knob rotation and have standard dials graduated 0 - 100. The angle of rotation from zero to maximum output voltage is 316 degrees. All units in these series are available with the terminal board enclosed in a metal terminal box. Knockouts in the terminal enclosure permit wiring with cable or conduit. These units are available in two- and three-gang assemblies in either enclosed or open construction. Motor drives are available in standard speeds of 5, 15, 30 or 60 seconds for full range travel.

The 136B - 236B POWERSTAT® Variable Transformer series are available in single and three phase, manually operated and motor driven assemblies. The 136B series operates from 120 volt lines and the 236B series operates from 240 volt lines. The 126 - 226 POWERSTAT® Variable Transformer Series is offered in single and three phase, manually - operated and motor - driven assemblies. The 126 series operates from a 120 volt line and the 226 series type operates from a 240 volt line. SUPERCON® Electrical Connectors incorporate many advanced engineering features designed to provide safe, rapid and positive panel board connections. Single conductor socket and pin type plugs and receptacles are offered in 25, 50, 100 and 250 Amp capacities. The 25, 50 and 100 Amp types are rated 125-250 VAC or DC current interrupting, 600 V unenergized connect or disconnect use only; 250 Amp types are rated 600 V unenergized connect or disconnect use only. The 25, 50 and 100 Amp types are CSA certified under file No. LR-17812.
PLUGS -Plugs have a unique functionally designed grip for handling ease and convenience. The variety of red, white, blue, yellow, black or green colors permits wider latitude in patch board distribution layouts. Wiring connection to the same plug can be either soldered or solder-less. Cable fastening screws are provided which permit a range of cable sizes to be accommodated by the plug. All plug grips are of a simple, two-piece threaded construction for quick assembly.
RECEPTACLES - Receptacles have color-matched nylon caps and bodies. All plastic parts of a receptacle are molded through in the same color to permit more rapid and accurate circuit identification on both the front and back of the panel when installed. Wiring connections are made to a threaded stud by wire wraparound, by lug or bus bar connection.

Double Assembly 5-WAY® Binding Posts are designed for faster, more accurate mounting on 3/4-inch (19mm) centers. Rated for 30 amps, 1000 V working. Conventional miniature, standard, and larger stud types have panel insulating parts in black only. Thumbnuts are available in color combinations of red and black, black and black, and red and red. Plastic insulating parts have the same characteristics as single types. Metal parts are available in gold, nickel or tin-plated brass parts. BP30 Single Series 5-WAY® Binding Posts have positive-stop captive thumbnuts that allow space to make connections yet reduce the likelihood of accidentally contacting current carrying parts. The BP30 single binding post series are made of nylon plastic per MIL-P20693A, Type IV. Current carrying parts are gold, nickel, or tin plated brass for improved conductivity and corrosion resistance. Metal parts are recessed for user and instrument protection and none touch the mounting panel. The BP30 series uses Standard Hex Nut Type - Rated for 30A, 1000V working. Uses #8-32 stud and nuts. All cataloged Custom Color Ring Series types have
neutral gray plastic insulating parts. Single assembly
types have thumbnut-imbedded rings in red,
white, blue, yellow, black or green plastic while
double assembly types have thumbnut color rings
in black-red only. All are available with current carrying
parts in gold, nickel or tin plated brass. BP31
Series fluted nut types have insulating parts molded
of Lexan polycarbonate resin which has a higher
DC insulation resistance at all operating temperatures
and significantly lower capacitance which provides

Double Assembly 5-WAY® Binding Posts are designed for faster, more accurate mounting on 3/4-inch (19mm) centers. Rated for 15 amps, 1000 V working. Conventional miniature, standard, and larger stud types have panel insulating parts in black only. Thumbnuts are available in color combinations of red and black, black and black, and red and red. BP21 Single Series 5-WAY® Binding Posts have positive-stop captive thumbnuts that allow space to make connections yet reduce the likelihood of accidentally contacting current carrying parts. The BP21 single binding post series are made of nylon plastic per MIL-P20693A, Type IV. Current carrying parts are gold, nickel, or tin plated brass for improved conductivity and corrosion resistance. Metal parts are recessed for user and instrument protection and none touch the mounting panel. The BP21 series uses Miniature Fluted Nut Types - Rated for 15A, 1000V working. POWERSTAT® Variable Transformers of the 10C Series are continuously adjustable autotransformers having a movable brush tap riding on a commutator. Rotation of the knob delivers any output voltage in the range of zero to or above line voltage. Negligible wave-form distortion makes them ideally suited for a wide range of OEM and testing applications. All are of open construction designed for back of panel mounting.
Units in the 10C Series are offered in 120 VAC single and three phase manually operated and rated at 2.25 amperes for constant current loads and 3.0 amperes for constant impedance loads. A constant current load is the output current that can be carried regardless of output voltage setting. Constant impedance loads apply only to units having maximum output voltage limited to line voltage. They are loads such as incandescent lamps or resistance heaters where the current drawn is approximately proportional to the applied voltage and increasing to maximum current at line voltage.
The tapping arrangement permits an output voltage of zero to line voltage or 10% above line voltage to allow compensation for a droop in line voltage or to provide a wider working range. Units of the 10C Series can be connected to deliver an increasing output voltage of zero to line voltage with either clockwise or counterclockwise knob rotation.
EXCELLENT REGULATION - POWERSTAT® Variable Transformers deliver the desired voltage with only negligible variation in output voltage from no-load to full-load current. Individual regulation curves are shown for all types.
HIGH EFFICIENCY - The watts loss of every POWERSTAT® Variable Transformer is very low in contrast to the inefficient, wasteful control provided by rheostats and other resistive type controllers.
NEGLIGIBLE WAVEFORM DISTORTION - A POWERSTAT® Variable Transformer provides an output voltage which is a faithful and distortionless reproduction of the applied input waveform. This is a required feature of many electronic applications and is a result of superior core and coil design and the use of highest grade silicon steel.
PRECIOUS METAL PLATED COMMUTATOR - A special precious metal plating process produces a commutator surface that withstands greater overloads and maintains a constant contact drop. The plated surface assures smooth performance, long life and increased resistance to corrosion.
NEGLIGIBLE MAINTENANCE - With ordinary care and attention to the operating instructions, the only elements that may require periodic inspection and maintenance are the brushes. Their replacement is infrequently needed because they are made of a special carbon and are of a design that assures proper contact of the brush to the commutator at any setting.
SMOOTH CONTROL - The output voltage of a POWERSTAT® Variable Transformer can be considered continuously adjustable. The voltage between turns is a fraction of a volt and the brush-tap is always in contact with one or more turns of the winding. Adjustment of output voltage can be made to a fraction of a volt.
RUGGED MECHANICAL CONSTRUCTION - All POWERSTAT® Variable Transformers are designed for heavy-duty, trouble-free operation. Rigid inspection at every stage of manufacture gives assurance of a quality-built product. The securely mounted core and coil, extra large aluminum brush heat radiator and durable brush assembly reduce the need for attention or replacement.
LONG LIFE - POWERSTAT® Variable Transformers give reliable performance over extended periods of time even under extreme operating conditions. Materials are constantly being improved to give increased life expectancy.
DUAL INPUT - Most 240 volt POWERSTAT® Variable Transformers have a lower input voltage tap that permits operation from a 120 volt input to obtain an output voltage of 0-280 volts. The output current must be reduced according to the curve in Figure B when the output voltage exceeds 125% of the input voltage.

Powr-Rib® Series
Edgewound/Round Wire Power Resistors
Designed in both Edgewound and Round Wire formats, these rugged resistors can handle 700 to 1000 Watts of power. Specify our edgewound design for very low resistance and high power capacity. When higher resistance with lower power capacity is required use our round wire design.
Constructed of a heavy resistance alloy mounted on ceramic insulators and supported by a metal mounting bracket. Metal parts, except for the resistance element, are heavily plated to prevent oxidation at high operating temperatures and to prevent corrosion. The mounting bar is slotted on each end to facilitate installation. Edgewound units provide clamp-type terminals, permitting a reliable connection which can be moved along the resistive element to obtain intermediate values.

The 270 Type resistors are equipped with lug terminals suitable for soldering or sturdy bolt connection. When secure mounting is required, the hollow core of these resistors permit fastening with spring-type brackets, thru bolts or thru bolts with slotted-steel brackets.

Ohmite's Brown Devils® are small, exceptionally durable power resistors. They feature all-welded construction and rugged, flame resistant conformal lead free vitreous enamel coating to ensure successful performance under high temperatures.
The wirewound 200 Type resistors have a hollow-core construction, which accommodates rigid mounting with brackets or thru bolts.

MOUNTING BRACKETS
Brackets fit inside cores of 200, 210 and 270 type resistors and remain in place by spring tension. Standard brackets are plated steel and have no suffix to part number. Spring steel brackets are indicated with an "S" suffix following part number.

DOUBLE THUMB SCREW LUG
(Part Number 2160) The double thumb screw adjustable lug permits easier adjustment and less chance of damage to resistance wire. Available for 1.125" cores only.
THRU-BOLTS AND MOUNTING BRACKETS
Sturdy plated steel brackets, along with thru-bolts, centering washers and insulating washers (included), allow for secure mounting of 210 type and 270 type resistors. Mounting brackets are available in either slotted (one with end-slot/one with side-slot) or elongated styles.
